A potted history of the Sussex Dog Groomer

Dinky Dogs

"I have always loved dogs. They make me laugh, they make me proud and most of all

they make me........ want to make them...... happy."

I am thrilled to announce that I have won the

Animology Grooming Competition for September 2011

This is a hotly contested grooming award, with people from as far away as Scotland down to Devon entering it.

Being monthly only 12 of these are given away in any year.

This is me being handed the award from the MD of Animology personally

I am thrilled to let you know that I entered the English Dog Groomers Challenge June 2009. Not only did I come 1st in the newcomers clipped class......... I  went on to win the overall title of

BEST NEWCOMER 2009

I want to say a special thank you to Mollie the Bedlington for filling in at the last moment, you stole the show. This is me beaming with pride and us nervously being judged.

***********

I originally studied dog grooming at Plumpton's Agriculture College. Here they gave students an indepth grounding on all aspects of dog care, health and safety, animal handling and canine body language etc. I am pleased to state I finished the course, OCN Intermediate Dog Grooming level 2, with distinctions. I also volunteered at a local grooming salon, gaining more experience all the time.

To gain my C&G L3 ADVANCED Certificate, I applied to Hadlow College in Tonbridge, Kent, after taking a  rather intensive 4 hour skills test (taking it was scarier than taking my driving test years ago lol). I was thrilled to pass and yes I did travel over 4 hours a day to study grooming!!!! I am pleased to say I passed all the practical exams and am currently waiting nervously for the results of my 2 hour theory exam....WOW CAN THIS GET ANY BETTER < I HAVE GOT MY RESULTS.>>>>A DISTINCTION< I cannot believe it, YIPPEE, well that is it, now I am a fully qualified Advance Groomer.I can now display this this massive pride

I want to be the best groomer possible and am prepared to do the groundwork. At Hadlow I was taught by Julie Harris, the new Petcare Trust Grooming Director.  She has the highest qualifications you can currently hold and is also an external examiner. Although I have now completed my schooling,  I intend to continue my education by attending shows, competitions and seminars. I am a member of the English Groomers Group and I also import an American dog grooming magazine so that I can be kept informed of new ideas and styles both here in the UK and the USA.

I have been involved with rescue dogs for almost 20 years, having taken part in agility and even doggy dancing. I have fostered dogs and I have had dogs from puppies to very old darlings, so I feel I have fairly wide ranging skills with dogs.
